Who Can Enter:

Amateur photographers only (non-professionals, hobbyists, students, enthusiasts, all of the above!)

All ages welcome; under 18 requires parental consent

Submission Guidelines:

👉 Up to 3 entries per person

👉  High-resolution (300 dpi), color JPEG or TIFF files

👉 No AI-generated or heavily manipulated images but cropping and light editing is allowed

👉  Include your name, email, photo title, location photo was taken, and a short caption

Criteria (Scored 1 to 5):

✅ Must be an original, previously unpublished photo

✅ Relevance to Theme — Does it capture the spirit and essence of North Florida’s wild places?

✅ Creativity — We will be looking for an original perspective, unique moment, and artistic composition

✅ Technical Quality — Sharpness of image, lighting, clarity, composition

✅ Impact — Does the photo evoke emotion or tell a story? Does it inspire an appreciation of nature?

Prizes:

The winning image will be featured on the cover of NFLT’s 2025 Annual Report along with a photo credit and short feature.  The winner will also receive a Champion level membership for calendar year 2026 and a NFLT swag bag.

Are you ready to celebrate the holidays in a way that gives back to nature? Join us for a special event hosted by NFLT, where you can help restore the beautiful Longleaf Pine ecosystem and bring home your very own Sand Pine Christmas tree!

Why It Matters:
The Longleaf Pine ecosystem is one of the most biodiverse in the world, but it’s under threat. Sand Pines are crowding out the Longleaf Pines, which depend on open space to thrive. By removing these Sand Pines, you’ll help protect wildlife and ensure this vital habitat remains healthy for generations to come.

When: Saturday, December 7, from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Where: Little Rain Lake Preserve, at the end of Little Rain Lake Rd, Keystone Heights, FL

North Florida Land Trust (NFLT) was founded on December 27, 1999, and is celebrating 25 years of conservation throughout 2024. Throughout its 25-year history, NFLT has remained steadfast in its focus on preserving the most ecologically, agriculturally, and historically significant lands in North Florida. NFLT has a service area of seven counties in the region–Nassau, Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Putnam, Baker, and Flagler–plus the Ocala to Osceola Wildlife Corridor (O2O) and the Corridor to Coast (C2C) expansion. In its 25 years of conservation NFLT has protected more than 40,000 acres including coastal salt marshes, pine forests, cypress swamps, and working lands, all of which play an integral role in our region’s remarkable array of ecosystems. What to Know

• This event is free and open to the public but we ask you to please register so we can plan for food, beverages, and the trail rides.

ABOUT THE EVENT

On March 3, NFLT will host our 2024 Annual Meeting and 25th Anniversary Celebration, presented by Lory Doolittle and the Doolittle Family, at TPC Sawgrass. More than 150 of our dedicated donors, supporters, and business partners will gather to learn about NFLT’s 2023 achievements, goals for 2024, and take a look back at how far we’ve come (and how much land we’ve saved) over the course of the past 25 years. The event will begin at 12 p.m. and will include a champagne brunch and program. Registration is now open and sponsorships are still available! General admission tickets are $150 per person and sponsorships start at $500.

The workshops are being held to give the community the opportunity to learn more about the proposed Clay County Land Conservation Program and to give feedback to the Clay County Board of County Commissioners on the natural resources that matter most to them. NFLT, a nonprofit land conservation organization, is collaborating with Clay County to develop land conservation policies, evaluate appropriate projects, and implement a successful land conservation program.

All workshops are open to the public and neighbors are encouraged to attend. North Florida Land Trust (NFLT) acquired the nearly 219-acre preserve in February from Atlantic Beach Holding Co., a group of heirs of Bull and his wife, Florence. The family decided to sell it for a bargain price to the nonprofit land conservation organization with the difference in actual cost considered a donation to NFLT. The family owned the land since about 1949 and wanted it kept in its natural state forever.
